Journey from Tea to Herbal Tea (Divine Drink)

Herbs

Mom, please give me tea. Every morning, sipping bed tea was great happiness. Tea used to energise me & set myself for the day. Whenever I needed, energy, I used to demand tea. I never got to know that I was addicted to tea. Post marriage too, the habit remained. Luckily, I got an early riser husband who used to offer bed tea to me. There were many occasions where I had to wake up without bed tea, which appeared to me as punishments. In the office too, I used to consume 3-4 cups of tea during 8 – 9 hours of job duration. I tried green tea many times but not able to replace it. Recently, my brother advised me with scientific logics to leave tea. Besides, I read lot about Herbal Tea which enhanced curiosity in me to know it further.

Tea is a hot drink made by pouring boiling water onto the dried leaves of tea plant. The process of making tea creates the difference. Tea leaves also have medicinal value. Emperor Shen Nung of China discovered tea 5000 years ago. When China was showing monopoly in producing tea, Britishers initiated the tea leaves production in Assam Valley and Darjeeling. Gradually, India became 2nd largest producer of tea leaves after China.

Herb is a plant whose parts like leaves, roots, seeds etc. are used in making medicine. Indian culture and civilisation is the oldest civilisation. We have books written by Susrita Samhita & Charak on herbs and their medicinal values. If we put herbs in the boiling water, the essence of the herbs oozes the flavour in the boiling water which act as boon for keeping us healthy.

After 20-25 years, I have left the tea drinking habit. Now, I do not depend on anybody for my bed tea. The herbal tea has made my life magical. If I am not able to make herbal tea, I use readymade herbal Divya Pey from Patanjali having many herbs in it.

Indian vedic culture is very strong & meaningful. We Indians are the first to create herbal tea (Divine Drink) as medicine long back. I feel proud of Indian Civilisation, Culture & Values.
